At the first ever GWI at O+ Festival on October 6- 7th, join the discussion with leaders committed to building regenerative local communities in the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Things kick off on Friday October 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., with the Homecoming Celebration. Good Work Institute teamed up with the Maritime Museum and the S.S. Columbia barge for a collaborative celebration right on the Rondout River. Join for food, drinks, stories of good work, boutonnieres (in true homecoming spirit), and a photo booth , followed by a performance and conversation on "The Art of Asking" with Amanda Palmer.
On Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. we will come together at BSP Lounge for a Morning Assembly where Judy Wicks, Laura Flanders, and more + all attendees will dialogue on what it means to create just and thriving communities.
Following, we will take an artwalk through Kingston to a complimentary Community Lunch at Peace Nation Cafe. During lunch we will collectively engage in some big questions in community building: how to distribute power and ownership?, what is the right intersection of ethics and earnings?, what is 'good' governance?, and more.
And, after exploring Kingston and all that the O+ Festival has to offer in the afternoon we will meet again for a Community Visioning Workshop at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center in Uptown. All participants are invited to share experiences of various structures and organizational methods useful to the group in creating solutions for thriving workplaces and communities.
Take a look at the detailed GWI at O+ line-up. Access to all GWI programming is included with the O+ wristband which can be purchased by donation prior to or upon arrival in Kingston (you won’t miss the O+ Tent in Uptown Kingston).
We can’t wait to commune and explore all that O+ has to offer with you! Make sure to register.
See you in Kingston!

For this workshop we will have an open-forum panel whereby several “dialogue initiators’ will begin a conversation that soon all participants can take turns in sharing experiences around various structures and organizational methods all intended to create thriving workplaces and communities.
Next, we will break into small groups around central challenges and themes that emerge from the dialogue and work together to develop ideas and solution to address them.
Our mission is to educate and connect a network of local community members and actively support their collaborative efforts to regenerate their places. We run fellowships, workshops, and events that focus on surfacing inner wisdom and actively engaging communities in social, economic, and ecological regeneration. In short, we are here to help people do good work.
By exchanging the art of medicine for the medicine of art, O+ empowers communities to take control of their collective well being. O+ build long-term relationships between creatives and health & wellness providers to help strengthen local communities. Their year-round efforts culminate in one-day and weekend-long celebrations, during which underinsured artists and musicians create and perform in exchange for a variety of services donated by doctors, dentists and complementary care providers. Check out the full program line-up and stay tuned for announcements.
